Development Manager, Corporate Relations

Position Description:

The Development Manager, Corporate Relations, manages all corporate giving and conference sponsorships. Their primary responsibility is managing ACEEE’s corporate membership program, known as the Ally Program. ACEEE’s Ally Program offers access to a network of peers and ACEEE experts to advance comprehension and progress around the latest trends and issues in energy efficiency. The Development Manager leads efforts to identify new corporate and utility partners, provides account management support for corporate partners in collaboration with teams across ACEEE, and coordinates virtual and in-person Ally events throughout the year. The Development Manager will be highly collaborative, have excellent communication skills, and will be well organized. The Development Manager reports to the Director of Development and will receive assistance from the Development Associate.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Serves as point of contact for corporate partners, working in close coordination with ACEEE program leads, including the ACEEE Executive Director, to carry out high-touch stewardship plans, ensuring a high retention rate
  • Conducts prospect research and outreach in coordination with ACEEE program staff to build the pipeline for new corporate partners, and conference sponsorships
  • Coordinates with finance team to ensure timely invoices are sent and provides accounts receivable follow-up as needed
  • Analyzes data to make annual revenue projections
  • Identifies opportunities to leverage and enhance corporate relationships across the organization to maximize revenue for ACEEE and ROI for corporate partners
  • Conceptualizes and develops print and online collateral, in collaboration with communications team, to help corporate partnerships and sponsorships
  • Works with the ACEEE Executive Director on the quarterly Ally policy brief
  • Organizes Ally-only events and networking opportunities (virtual and in-person) in collaboration with ACEEE program staff, Director of Development, and Development Associate
  • Manages conference sponsorship fundraising and provides coaching and aid to ACEEE staff engaged in conference sponsorship fundraising
  • Works with ACEEE conferences team to coordinate sponsorship benefits at ACEEE conferences
  • Ensures all corporate relations data is correct and accurate in the ACEEE database (Salesforce), email marketing tool (Pardot), and on the ACEEE website

  • Ability to simultaneously work on projects with competing deadlines

  • Superb organizational and project management skills
  • Collaborative approach
  • Strong analytical and strategic management skills
  • Knowledge of fundraising best practices, particularly for corporate membership programs and conference sponsorships
  • Some energy efficiency fluency and interest in climate change mitigation; or demonstrated ability to learn
  • Ability to travel domestically to events, approximately four times per year
  • Experience with membership relationship databases, Salesforce preferred

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (advanced degree or equivalent preferred)
  • Five years of account management/corporate relations experience in the nonprofit or private sector
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement corporate partnership strategies that increase revenue for an organization
  • Experience in or understanding of energy efficiency/climate change mitigation, with a genuine commitment to the mission of ACEEE

Preferred start date: On or about March 1. Preferred location is Washington, DC, but open to remote work.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salary range is $71,588 to $89,485. ACEEE’s generous benefits package includes health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance coverage; a 403(b) retirement plan; public transit and bike share benefits; three weeks of vacation in the first year and four weeks thereafter.
